L'Afrikasienne du mois

Writer's picture: AfrikAsia CultureAfrikAsia Culture

AfrikAsia Culture has decided to highlight Abéti Masikini, this Congolese artist of international renown, because we thought it would be appropriate to talk about her commitment through the links she forged with the Asian continent from 1977 to 1990. And as our association works for the same cause, the link of cause and effect could not be hidden.

Abéti Masikini whose documentary film traces her career through the link below, was indeed the first African to give 17 galas from Shanghai to Beijing through Guangzhou and many other cities at the time of MAO TSE TSOUNG. Her famous repertoire, especially the songs Motéma Pasi and Bi suivra suivra, surprised more than one African who set foot in this country. Moreover, this album remained at the top for a long time and a Chinese woman even took all these pieces as well as its choreographies. How this marriage came about, we don't know. However, we are delighted to know that the bridge she has built will be extended through all the projects that AfrikAsia Culture will consolidate between Asia and Africa. We strongly invite you to listen to her discography which you can find on Youtube!
